Avoid using student grades of paint. They are cheap because they are full of filler and often lower-standard pigments. They behave differently in use because of this. The colors will also tend to sparkle and vibrate less that the fine grades. You can save a dollar here and there and loose painting after painting. Not a very economical exchange. There are strategies for using fine materials and still being thrifty.
Avoid pigments labeled as light resistant. They may resist fading for a few weeks or months, but they will not hold FAST to their intended color!
Always use Light Fast Colors!
